At the southern tip of Vancouver Island, Victoria is not only the provincial capital, but also the most British flavored city in Canada. In 1843, Victoria was established by the Hudson’s Bay Company as a British fur-trading post. By the late 1800s, the Gold Rush Era had left its stamp on the city with a growing population and a bustling market square. Many of the buildings from that colorful time in history have survived to this day.
